Sponsors Needed – Help Make Aldergrove Beautiful!
The ABA is considering relaunching the downtown Aldergrove hanging flower baskets program, and we’re looking to gauge interest from ABA members who would be interested in sponsoring a basket. The basket program last ran in 2014, with beautiful baskets bringing a vibrant splash of colour to “main street” in Aldergrove along Fraser Highway between 270th and 273rd during the Summer months.
The primary challenge in operating the hanging flower baskets program is in watering the baskets on a regular basis (about two times a week in the early AM). In the past we have had volunteers handle the watering, but this can be a logistical challenge (having a truck with massive water tank etc.). The ABA has investigated automated watering systems and unfortunately their are infrastructure challenges to this approach.
We’re estimating the cost to sponsor a basket this year, including watering services, to be $300 – half sponsorships are available at $150. Sponsors receive recognition in the community via an ad in the Aldergrove Star, the ABA’s social media channels, and other avenues. There are 46 baskets available to be sponsored; if we are unable to get a commitment for all 46 we unfortunately won’t be able to operate the program.
