DESCRIPTION:Langley Gives and Langley Volunteers will be organizing “Giving Tuesday” for November 28 in Aldergrove! \nMost people know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday – two days that are good for the economy. Giving Tuesday is a growing Canadian movement for giving and volunteering\, taking place each year after Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday is the ‘opening day of the giving season\,’ a day where charities\, companies and individuals join together to share commitments\, rally for favourite causes and think about others. \nFour Giving Tuesday events are being planned throughout Langley. The goal of the day is to raise awareness of the non-profit organizations that service Langley and how residents and businesses can get involved. \nLangley Volunteers will be hosting a pancake breakfast (pancakes\, sausages\, juice and coffee or tea) for the Aldergrove / Murrayville area from 7:00 am – 10:00 am at the Aldergrove Legion. Tables will be set up for people who would like to eat inside\, and a station will be set up outside for ‘Drive Through’ service. Food and drinks are by donation. \nLangley Volunteers will also accept personal donations to your organization of choice; any undesignated donations will go towards sustaining Giving Tuesday in the years to come. \nThe Langley Gives committee consists of representatives from Langley Hospice\, Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation\, Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce\, MLA Rich Coleman’s office\, City of Langley\, Langley Care Foundation\, School District Foundation and Langley Volunteers. By participating in Clean Up Langley Day\, you can be part of a team effort to keep our communities clean and remove harmful litter from our environment.  \nVolunteers can meet in front of the Extra Foods on 272nd Street north of Fraser Highway anytime between 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. DESCRIPTION:The 2015 Langley-Aldergrove-Abbotsford Alzheimer’s Walk for Memories will take place on Sunday January 25 at Aldergrove Athletic Park. The event\, held during Alzheimer Awareness Month\, will raise money for the Alzheimer Society of BC. \nThe walk will take place rain or shine; supporters are invited to come to the Aldergrove park to draw attention to the need for more research into dementia\, for more facilities and support for caregivers\, and for the money to achieve these goals. There will be music\, food and entertainment\, as well as dementia information and resources.
